Chef Omar wins ‘Apprentice of the Year 2016.’

Chef Omar wins ‘Apprentice of the Year 2016.’

The Courthouse Restaurant deputy chef Omar Zamir has been awarded with the North Lancashire Training Group (NLTG) Apprentice of the Year award. He was presented with a certificate and a trophy by the NLTG team which recognised all the hard work and dedication he has shown throughout his apprenticeship.

He can now add ‘top apprentice of the year’ to his collection in addition to being honoured with the City and Guilds Medal for Excellence and Apprentice of the Year in retail, Hospitality and Tourism at the Asian Apprenticeship awards.

Gareth Lindsay, NLTG’s operations director said: “To say that Omar is a great apprentice is an understatement. It has been a really good year for him and he deserves it. We are very proud and delighted to award him with our apprentice of the year award.”

Omar has worked at East Lancashire Deaf Society for nearly 7 years after completing his apprenticeship and later being employed as a chef.
He said: “I am proud of myself and shocked at the same time because I was not expecting to win the award or have a lot of people vote for me.

I have been at ELDS for a long time and I am happy that they offer these opportunities. The team continue to encourage the non-hearing and help train all the apprentices when they come to work here.”
